Upgraded to a 1080

Recommended Posts

Got a deal on a used 1080 FTW DT. Overclocked it successfully to +225MHz core (2125MHz at load). Gonna push memory later. Pretty solid for only $400.

Very nice! Just remember that when overclocking the memory, your gpu overclock may suffer a bit...

Also, if I were you, I would check to make sure that the card has been serviced by evga since their recall! Basically cards were catching fire from the vrms and memory not having thermal tape to dissipate heat to the heatsink! This applied to all evga' s 1070 and 1080s!

It was purchased on 5/2/17 so it's probably fine.

Purchase date doesn't really mean anything... go by the manufacture date. That will tell you if it was manufactured before or after the recall... You can check this on the "QC" (quality control) sticker somewhere on the card itself, or worst case, you can take the heatsink off of the card and visually verify that it has thermal tape covering the vrms and ram.
